Our Mission

At Burma Independent Voices (BIV), our mission is deeply rooted in the pursuit of truth, democracy, and fundamental freedoms for the people of Myanmar. We are dedicated to providing accurate, ethical, and independent news that serves as a vital shield against the dangerous spread of disinformation and state-sponsored propaganda.

We stand firmly for a harmonious society where diversity is celebrated and all forms of discrimination are eliminated. Through professional journalism and investigative reporting, we aim to foster social cohesion, transparency, and accountability, ensuring that our people can pursue a future built on justice, mutual respect, and democratic values.

Who We Are

We are a collective of seasoned journalists, including former editors and senior reporters from Myanmar’s most reputable news outlets, who have come together to maintain our independent voice. Currently operating from a hybrid, digital-first office in Chiang Mai, Thailand, we have adapted our workflows to ensure both the security of our

team and the efficiency of our reporting. Our strength lies in our years of experience upholding journalistic integrity even under the most challenging and high-risk conditions.

What We Do Best
