The England National Team has hit a stumbling block in their World Cup preparations after several pieces of team equipment were stolen prior to their arrival at their training base in Kansas City on Saturday.

According to a report by the BBC, transport vehicles delivering gear to the team’s training headquarters at Swope Soccer Village were broken into. The missing inventory reportedly includes footballs and specialized player boots.

The Football Association (FA) confirmed the incident to the Press Association (PA) but declined to release further details, citing the ongoing active police investigation.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the Kansas City Police Department in Missouri stated, “We are currently investigating a theft involving property reported missing from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City this evening. The investigation remains active and ongoing.”

The BBC further reported that law enforcement authorities have already taken two suspects into custody in connection with the incident.

Managed by head coach Thomas Tuchel, the England squad was scheduled to hold their first training session at Swope Soccer Village this Saturday, following their relocation from a pre-World Cup training camp in Florida.

England are scheduled to kick off their World Cup campaign against Croatia this coming Thursday, before facing their remaining Group L opponents, Ghana and Panama.
