Arsenal Football Club has officially secured its fourth Premier League title, marking their first league championship in 22 years since the historic 2003–04 “Invincibles” season.

The Gunners’ title was guaranteed ahead of the final matchday after their primary title rivals, Manchester City, were held to a 1–1 draw by Bournemouth on May 19. Upon the final whistle of the City match, Arsenal players and manager Mikel Arteta celebrated at the London Colney training ground, while thousands of supporters gathered outside the Emirates Stadium, lighting flares and waving flags to turn North London red.

The historic victory has triggered an outpouring of joy from global supporters, alongside official congratulations from prominent political figures and football legends.

Sion Oluranteba, a Nigerian Arsenal fan currently residing in Canada, shared his emotional connection to the club’s journey. “I grew up in Nigeria and had to flee due to the conflict, starting my life over on another continent from scratch,” he said. “Arsenal’s struggles and resilience over the past years mirrored my own life. While working today, I opened The Guardian‘s live blog and saw the words ‘Arsenal are champions.’ It made me believe that dreams really do come true.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the club, writing: “The 22-year long wait is over for Arsenal. Finally, we are back where we belong.” Former politician Jeremy Corbyn also joined the accolades, celebrating the victory with a simple message: “North London Forever.”

Legendary manager Arsène Wenger, who guided the club to its last unbeaten league title, praised the current squad. “You did it,” Wenger stated. “When others stop, champions keep moving forward. This is your time. Now, enjoy every single moment of it.” Former goalkeeper David Seaman also shared his excitement, writing: “Premier League Champions!!! What a season. That felt like the longest 3 minutes (and 22 years) of my life.”

The title concludes a period of heartbreak for Arsenal, having finished as runners-up for the past three consecutive seasons. The team demonstrated immense psychological strength to bounce back from a critical period in April, during which they suffered back-to-back defeats against Manchester City and a four-match losing streak in domestic competitions.

The triumph vindicates the long-term project initiated by the club’s board when they appointed an inexperienced Mikel Arteta just a week before Christmas in 2019, maintaining patience and stability through the rebuilding process.

A foundational element of this season’s championship run was Arsenal’s defensive discipline. The team maintained the tightest defense in the league, conceding only 26 goals this season, compared to 29 and 34 goals in the previous two campaigns.

Critical milestones during this 2025–26 championship campaign included Gabriel Martinelli’s 93rd-minute equalizer against Manchester City in September, a 94th-minute own-goal victory against Wolves, and a dramatic late finish at West Ham on May 9.

The emotional impact on the fanbase spans generations. One 22-year-old fan from the Philippines remarked, “I was born the day after Arsenal won the league in 2004, so I’ve never seen them win it in my lifetime. I’m just crying in bed out of pure happiness.” Another supporter shared a moving letter about her 86-year-old father who suffers from dementia, noting that seeing him clearly recognize and celebrate Arsenal becoming champions brought tears of joy to the family.

Club legend Ian Wright and politician Jeremy Corbyn were seen celebrating directly with fans outside the stadium. Arsenal will officially lift the Premier League trophy this coming Sunday following their final match of the season at Selhurst Park.
