The Arakan Army (AA) released a follow-up statement on July 7, announcing that it had seized weapons, ammunition, and the bodies of fallen soldiers after intercepting and eliminating fleeing Myanmar junta troops in the wake of capturing two strategic defense outposts near Point 227 in Yekyi Township, Ayeyarwady Region.
The initial engagements occurred on July 2 and 3, when AA forces successfully overran and captured two military outposts tied to the junta’s critical Point 227 high-ground position. Following their heavy defeat, disorganized junta troops retreated into the surrounding terrain. AA forces launched pursuit operations to track the retreating elements, culminating in a brief but intense clash lasting several minutes on July 4.
During the post-battle clearance operations, AA troops recovered the bodies of several junta soldiers alongside a cache of military equipment, weapons, and ammunition left behind by the fleeing forces.
According to the AA statement, the Myanmar military has responded aggressively to the loss of these strategic high-ground positions. The junta has unleashed an intense counter-offensive in and around the battlefield, conducting repeated airstrikes using fighter jets, deploying kamikaze drones, and maintaining relentless barrages of long-range heavy artillery in an attempt to reclaim the lost territory.
