Guardiola Rallies West Ham to Halt Arsenal’s Momentum

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has declared his support for West Ham United in the upcoming London Derby, hoping the Hammers can stall league leaders Arsenal after City secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Brentford.

In a post-match press conference following goals from Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, and Omar Marmoush, Guardiola signaled his allegiance by crossing his arms in the iconic “Hammers” gesture and chanting West Ham’s rallying cry, “Come on you Irons.”

Despite a resilient performance from a Brentford side eyeing European qualification, City broke the deadlock in the 60th minute through a stunning strike from the in-form Doku. Haaland soon doubled the lead before turning provider for Marmoush to seal a dominant three points.

The win moves Manchester City to within two points of Arsenal. Although last Monday’s 3-3 draw against Everton stripped City of the chance to decide the title solely on their own terms, Guardiola expressed his excitement over the intensified race.

“I love being in this position again. At the very least, we have secured second place this season, which is a significant improvement over last year when we were fighting just for a Champions League spot,” Guardiola remarked. With the Carabao Cup already secured and an FA Cup final on the horizon, City remain on course for a potential treble.

Jeremy Doku, who also scored twice in the draw against Everton, was once again the standout performer. Praising his winger’s impact, Guardiola added, “In a great team, you need more than just Haaland; you need wingers and midfielders who can change the game, and that is exactly what we have.”
