Pep Guardiola Speaks Out on Man City Future Ahead of FA Cup Final Against Chelsea

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has responded candidly regarding his future amid ongoing speculation over whether he will depart the club at the end of the current 2025/26 season.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, Guardiola has guided Manchester City to an illustrious era, capturing 16 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League crown.
Having already secured the Carabao Cup earlier this year, Guardiola leads his side to Wembley on Saturday night (May 16) for the FA Cup final against Chelsea. This marks his 24th career visit to Wembley as a manager, offering him the chance to lift his third FA Cup trophy.
Ahead of the showpiece event, intense speculation surrounding his future suggested that this match could serve as his final managerial appearance at Wembley.
However, during his pre-match press conference just hours before kickoff, the Spaniard corrected the silverware tally—noting that including his three Community Shield victories, his decade-long haul stands at 19 trophies rather than 16—while directly addressing his future.
“Yes, 19 trophies in 10 years is not bad. They [the fans] don’t have to wait for me to leave. They know it was fun with me, it was really fun. To be honest, 19 trophies in 10 years and fighting for number 20 now is not bad,” Guardiola remarked.
When asked if he felt emotional about the possibility of this FA Cup final being his last match at Wembley as Manchester City boss, he responded firmly: “No, absolutely not. No way. I still have one year left on my contract.”
Should Manchester City triumph in the final, Guardiola will become only the fifth manager in history to lift the FA Cup at least three times, joining the ranks of iconic managers like John Nicholson, Sir Alex Ferguson, George Ramsay, and Arsène Wenger. Guardiola’s current contract with Manchester City is set to expire in the summer of 2027.
