PSLF/TNLA, Previously Vowing to Fight Until the End, Now Welcomes the Military’s Rebranded Government

The Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF/TNLA) released a statement today, April 15, welcoming the military’s rebranded government led by coup leader Min Aung Hlaing.
In the statement, the PSLF/TNLA asserted that they will continue to uphold and abide by the ceasefire commitments reached during the ninth round of talks mediated by China. Furthermore, the group expressed its readiness to collaborate with the “new civilian government” to find peaceful political solutions to political problems through dialogue rather than armed conflict.
The PSLF/TNLA initiated Operation 1027 on October 27, 2023, alongside its Brotherhood Alliance allies. Various armed revolutionary organizations that emerged following the 2021 military coup also participated in those operations.
During Operation 1027, the PSLF/TNLA, together with its allies, fought for and captured at least 10 towns in northern Shan State. They also engaged in “Operation Shan-Man” in collaboration with the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay).
Previously, in a statement released on the 62nd Ta’ang National Resistance Day on January 12, 2025, the group had vowed to join forces with revolutionary powers to completely defeat and revolt against the military until the end.
Under pressure from China, the PSLF/TNLA has engaged in ceasefire negotiations with the coup military and has returned the town of Mogok—which it had previously captured alongside its allies—back into the hands of the coup military.
The International Crisis Group (ICG) has noted that the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has grown significantly in strength and has increasingly expanded its territorial control following the military coup in Myanmar.
