The National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) has issued a statement reaffirming its recognition of U Win Myint—who was recently released from unjust imprisonment by the coup military—as the President of Myanmar.
The NUCC stated that President U Win Myint was performing his duties, constitutionally mandated by the people through democratic means, when the terrorist military group committed high treason by violating the 2008 Constitution and unjustly detaining him.
“On this first day of the Myanmar New Year, the NUCC shares the profound joy of the people as President U Win Myint reunites with his family in good health. The National Unity Consultative Council continues to officially recognize U Win Myint as the President of Myanmar,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the NUCC emphasized its commitment to continue striving for the release of popular leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all remaining political prisoners.
The council also pledged to persist in the struggle alongside the entire populace and all revolutionary forces until the Spring Revolution achieves its ultimate goals: the total eradication of all forms of dictatorship, including the military dictatorship, and the establishment of a Federal Democratic Union.
