Coup leader Min Aung Hlaing has characterized his first 100 days as coup president as a “historic period,” praising his own administration during a speech marking the milestone.
“The 100-day period during which our government took responsibility marks a historic timeframe wherein the foundational pillars of the nation were successfully established,” the coup president claimed in his address.
Despite ongoing armed conflicts, continued military airstrikes against civilian populations, and skyrocketing commodity prices burdening ordinary citizens across the country, Min Aung Hlaing insisted that his regime remains focused on stability and development.
“We are carrying out tasks across all sectors with momentum, guided by two priority objectives: achieving national stability and peace, and realizing state development,” the coup president added.
Data from the World Food Programme’s (WFP) June 2026 Market Monitor report paints a starkly different picture of the economic reality faced by the public.
According to the report, the monthly cost of a basic food basket for an average family rose to 51,187 MMK in June—a 2 percent increase from May and a sharp 20 percent jump by the first week of July compared to late February.
Furthermore, monitoring data confirms that armed clashes persist nationwide, with the coup military continuing to launch air attacks on civilian populations.
