Myanmar’s junta state media channel, MRTV, reported that the ICRC Resident Representative to Myanmar met with State Counsellor and public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who remains in military custody.
According to military regime announcements, the meeting took place on the morning of August 3.
While the military junta has repeatedly refused requests from international bodies and ASEAN envoys to meet with the ousted leader—who has been kept away from public view since the 2021 coup—it announced that it permitted the meeting with Mr. Arnaud de Baecque, the Myanmar Resident Representative for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
