With only months to go before the world’s biggest sporting event, FIFA has unveiled an extraordinary entertainment lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
In a historic first for the World Cup, a special halftime show will be introduced during the final, directed by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The performance will feature global icons Shakira and Madonna alongside Korean superstars BTS. Shakira is also scheduled to release the official World Cup anthem, titled “Dai Dai,” later today.
Proceeds from the performance will be donated to the “FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund,” an initiative aimed at providing quality education and football training opportunities to children worldwide.
The tournament kicks off on June 11 in Mexico City, where hosts Mexico will face South Africa in the opening match. Simultaneously, South Korea will take on Croatia in Guadalajara. On June 12, Canada will make their debut against Bosnia in Toronto, while the United States will begin their campaign against Paraguay in Los Angeles.
The opening ceremony in Los Angeles will feature a star-studded lineup including Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla. Canada and Mexico will also host their own separate opening festivities with various international artists participating.
The 2026 World Cup is being co-hosted by three North American nations—the United States, Mexico, and Canada—across 16 host cities. With over 100 matches scheduled over the course of a month, the combination of elite sports and world-class entertainment is set to make this the most unique World Cup in history.
